Rain, Rain, Rain...

To say the weather has been incredibly crappy lately, would be an understatment. Wind, rain, clouds, darkness, a typical Seattle winter. It has been challenging to do many outdoor activities but the one constant is our daily walk. We still brave the elements, twice a day, and we both come home a soggy mess. I "think" I've taught Emmy how to shake outside, so she doesn't do it the second she steps inside. I've led by example, right when we get back I start shaking myself off, all the while saying "shake, Emmy, shake..." She looks up at me like I'm crazy but will invariably shake herself off too, so I think it works!! Back to our walks. Lucky for us, even in this weather, there are a TON of parks within walking distance that we'll report out on.

Today's park is a little, hidden, gem smack dab in the middle of a neighborhood, called Terrace Park. This is a small 1+ acre park, with not much but a small playground and basketball court but what it does have is a HUGE grassy area for your pup to run, sniff, explore, roll around in and a free, (biodegradable)plastic bag dispenser for the "unmentionables", love those things!! I think this park would be a fantanstic contender for Kirkland's 1st off-leash dog park, but that's a diferent story. As required by city rules, you must keep your dog on leash here BUT if your hound is off-leash savvy, it is not an uncommon sight to see folks giving Fido some breathing room, so to speak. Mornings and late afternoons are the best time to visit, as the park is typically empty, except for the occasional dog walker. And, it's always nice to stay a bit and have a little chat with them while your dogs get to socialize a little too. Win, win for everyone! We like this little park and visit it often.

Shiny, Happy, Emmy...

I LOVE bathtime - Emmy, on the other hand, can take it or leave it (usually, leave it...) I like to bathe her at least once a month, and the best place I have found thus far is a place in Juanita Village called "Pup Scrub!". They do a bang up job of cleaning your dog and they are reasonably priced. You have two options at Pup Scrub: you wash or they wash. I've done both and I prefer the "they wash" option only because I think they do a better job of getting in all the nooks and crannies (if you know what I mean) and Emmy literally comes out glistening! It's about ~$16 if you do it and runs about ~$50 if you leave it to them (prices will vary according to the size of your dog). The employees are very friendly and know what they are doing so I would highly recommend this place for the next time you need to get your little stink all nice and clean again. We love Pup Scrub!! (well...like I said before, I love the place, Emmy...not such a fan)

Our First Adventure...Into Blogging

I created this blog for people with dogs, mainly, people with dogs who like to go places. My dog Emmy, LOVES to see new things and I love bringing her with me as much as I can. I wanted to create a place to document all the cool places you can take your dog. I hope you find this blog useful and motivating - let's begin!!
